iPhone does not go to sleep after receiving sms

See what sort of notification style you have for Messages. This would be in Settings > Notification Centre
You can always try a Reset Network Settings.

Since IOS12 my iPhone 7 does not go into sleep mode after it notifies me of a message. In the past it went into sleep mode after a minute. This drains the battery much quicker. Does anyone experience this and is there a solution?

2. Go to Display and Brightness.
3. Go to Auto-lock. Mine is set for 2 minutes.
