That is a good deal, I guess now that the third generation Echo Dot is out they really want to get rid of their remaining second generation inventory.
I just ordered a 4 Pack of Meross Smart Plugs for $64 which works out to $16/each and that is in Canadian Dollars so only about $12 US each.
I recently had ordered two 2 packs of the Meross Smart Wall Switches which need to be installed by an electrician to replace a standard wall light switch. I had never heard about Meross, but they have a lot of smart products and it feels well-made and the app is completely accessible, connecting the smart switches to my WiFi was actually the easiest and most user friendly process I have seen in a while for such items.
The only drawback with the Meross products is that they are only Alexa and Google Home compatible, they don't support Homekit/SIRI, but I do have Alexas as well so it's not that big of a deal.
Another good deal I saw on Amazon Canada was for a Honeywell Lyric T5 Smart WiFi Thermostat + a third generation Amazon Echo Dot for $119 Canadian, if they offer that deal on Amazon.com it would probably be $89.99 US and for a very nice connected smart thermostat + a new Dot that really is a good deal as well. We have the Lyric T5 at home, it is by the way compatible with Alexa as well as Homekit, and I was tempted to order 2 of them for my store where I still use the old Radio Thermostat connected thermostats I got probably 5 or 6 years ago. They unfortunately are not compatible with any of the voice assistants, but the app is accessible and for the business they are on a schedule and I don't do as much with them manually.
I am a bit disappointed that there isn't a good deal on the new Instant Pot Smart WiFi. It seems to be still $149 on the US Amazon site and on Amazon Canada it is $197 and change today where before it was $199.99, a fantastic $2 savings! Also surprised that Best Buy, Bed Bath and Beyond and Walmart don't even list it at least not here in Canada where I have so far only seen it on Amazon.
Our big purchase this year is a Vitamix Ascent A2300 blender which is $549.99 instead of $599.99 Canadian, not a super deal, but I had $800 in Best Buy Canada gift cards and while I was only allowed to use 2 of them during the online checkout, that still covers $400 which is a good portion of the purchase.
My wife and I are also tempted to upgrade our iPhones to the iPhone 8 because Koodo Mobile, the provider we are with, does offer a pretty sweet deal. I have been saying that I am going to keep my 6S Plus for at least another year, but I saw that on eBay Canada the 6S Plus 64 Gig goes for over $400 so even if I only got $350 that would cover most of the upgrade. The deal is that for a 64 Gb iPhone 8 I would pay $150 upfront and then for 2 years Koodo would add an extra $15 to my monthly bill. That is another $360 and together with the $150 up front that means I can get an iPhone 8 64 Gb which Apple sells for $819 here in Canada for $510, if I get $350 for my 6S Plus it would cost me $160 to get an iPhone 8 and after 2 years my Koodo plan with 6 Gb of data and unlimited nationwide calling and texting goes back to the $49 I pay now. I would of course go from a Plus size phone back to a regular size, but I probably would have done so in a future upgrade anyways.
