iOS 12.1 did not fix the broken Siri shortcuts

Somebody on one of these lists reported that the problem with Siri shortcuts that stopped working has been fixed in iOS 12.1. I updated both of my devices and rebooted both of them. Siri shortcuts are still universally broken for me. I really wish Apple could find out what is causing this problem. The best feature of iOS 12 has just been rendered useless for me.

Hi Mary,

Yeah, it's a weird one, and hard to fix because some people have the problem and others don't. Updating fixed it for me. I'm sorry it didn't for you.

Best,
Anna

I have not updated, but I recently created a shortcut to open a shared grocery list that lives in Dropbox only to find that while I could run it from the shortcuts app I could not successfully start it with Siri. All last week I could not use this shortcut with Siri. I restarted my phone, did a hard reset and still no joy. Thinking that maybe the problem is with the Shortcuts app I enabled Siri Shortcuts for the Google assistant in settings when it became possible to do so and finding that this actually worked using Siri I tried my own shortcut again and what do you know! My shortcut mysteriously worked and has been working ever sense.
Unfortunately, this does not suggest any particular conclusion to me. Are all shortcuts broken or just the ones people have created with the Shortcuts app?
Do we have to have internet connectivity to run shortcuts using Siri?
Could there be a particular app in common on the phones of everyone experiencing the problem? How likely is something like that to even be part of the problem given how sandboxed apple's environment is?
Everyone experiencing the problem must have something in common, we just have to figure out what it is unless it's something that's happening on the server side of things.
Just looking for patterns and hoping my message might give someone an idea. If you made it this far, thanks for reading and if something that might lead to a solution occurs to you please post!
