If there is a skill for Apple Music that is definitely a huge bonus and I'm really surprised Amazon is doing this because this. I recently signed up for the free Amazon Unlimited trial and was seriously thinking of keeping it because of how well it works with my Sonos system, but my wife and I have an Apple Music family membership and I certainly won't keep the Amazon Unlimited subscription if I can use Alexa to play from my Apple Music subscription. I am curious how this may work with family memberships where my wife and I both use Apple Music with our own Apple Id's.

I also read recently that you can now or very shortly will be able to add a Skype skill and use Alexa to make Skype calls.

that made up my mind I am going get me another dot the third gen this
time. Soled the second gen because I wanted to try something else.

I have tried both Apple Music as well as the unlimited Amazon Music
subscription. They are both good, but I went with the unlimited Amazon
Music because it seems that a few of the artist that I like to listen to
was not available on Apple Music, but was available on Amazon Music. I
can not speak to how accessible it is to purchase music from Amazon Music
because I do not really buy music anymore. I just listen to what I want
through my subscription.
Chris
I don't have either Amazon music or Apple Music at this time but have
thought about subscribing to one but not both. Because I am a Prime
member, Amazon is less expensive but I have found that purchasing
music from them is really difficult these days and for that reason I
am more reluctant to use them. So, having said all that, do people
overall have any preference between these services?
I believe that the article says that you will link your Apple Music
account
with your Alexa service.
Those with Sonos and Alexa have Apple Music linked with Sonos.

This will be a permanent feature. Now the specific details are still
not
clear. I am not sure if it will just be a subscription service like
Spotify, or you will also be able to play your own personal music and
the
free stations offered by Apple Music. Now I would assume that if you
are
already an Apple Music subscriber, then you should be fine and be able
to
access it without a problem.
Chris
I just received this email concerning Apple Music on the Amazon Alexa
device. I am wondering if this is going to be permanent, or just for
a
short period. I am an able subscriber, and have an apple account as I
am
an iPhone 7 Plus user. Also, is this a free feature, or is there a
monthly subscription fee.
Thanks folks!

Apple Music comes to Amazon Echo smart speakers starting December
17th
Friday, November 30, 2018
Highlighting growing cooperation between the two companies, Amazon
has
announced that Apple Music is coming to Amazon Echo smart speakers
Music has always been one of Alexa’s most popular features and today
we’re excited to announce that Apple Music will be available on Echo
devices beginning the week of December 17.
Apple Music subscribers will be able to enjoy Apple Music’s 50
million
songs on Echo devices. Customers will be able to ask Alexa to play
their
favorite songs, artists, and albums—or any of the playlists made by
Apple
Music’s editors from around the world, covering many activities and
moods. Customers will also be able to ask Alexa to stream expert-made
radio stations centered on popular genres like Hip-Hop, decades like
the
80s, and even music from around the world, like K-Pop. Just ask Alexa
to
play Beats 1 to hear Apple Music’s global livestream including
in-depth
artist interviews— all completely ad-free. Simply enable the Apple
Music
skill in the Alexa app and link your account to start listening.
“Music is one of the most popular features on Alexa—since we launched
Alexa four years ago, customers are listening to more music in their
homes than ever before,” said Dave Limp, senior vice president,
Amazon
Devices. “We are committed to offering great music providers to our
customers and since launching the Music Skill API to developers just
last
month, we’ve expanded the music selection on Alexa to include even
more
top tier services. We’re thrilled to bring Apple Music – one of the
most
popular music services in the US – to Echo customers this holiday.”
Customers tell us that the simplicity and ease of asking Alexa for
the
content they want to hear has brought more music into their homes.
Customers ask Alexa to play all kinds of music in many different
languages. They stream tens of millions of hours of radio per month
and
have set tens of millions of music alarms since the feature launched
less
than a year ago.
Fun fact: Top country is the most requested music to wake up to.
We’re excited to bring Apple Music to our Alexa customers this
holiday
season.

Hi,
I wrote to Sonos Support and asked if Apple Music will have the same voice support that Spotify now enjoys on Sonos. Because someone on my echoing group speculated that because Alexa is a third party app on Sonos it may not be available with voice control with Sonos as it will be with Amazon devices. I received a very unsatisfactory reply back which basically implied that I would have to wait until the seventeenth to find out one way or the other unless Apple decided to disclose it first.
I use both Spotify and Apple Music on my Sonos currently because I like Spotify better than Amazon Music Unlimited on the Sonos in both quality of sound and selection of music on the Sonos One and they both allow me to control my music via my voice. My hope is that very soon Apple will also allow this on both Sonos and Amazon devices as well.

Given how often such things are kept under the hood I am not surprised about the answer you received, Sonos probably is not letting the cat out of the sack until the feature is rolled out. I guess the good news is that in a little more than 2 weeks you and everybody else will find out.

I have tried both Apple Music as well as the unlimited Amazon Music
subscription. They are both good, but I went with the unlimited
Amazon Music because it seems that a few of the artist that I like to
listen to was not available on Apple Music, but was available on
Amazon Music. I can not speak to how accessible it is to purchase
music from Amazon Music because I do not really buy music anymore. I
just listen to what I want through my subscription.
Chris
I don't have either Amazon music or Apple Music at this time but
have thought about subscribing to one but not both. Because I am a
Prime member, Amazon is less expensive but I have found that
purchasing music from them is really difficult these days and for
that reason I am more reluctant to use them. So, having said all
that, do people overall have any preference between these services?
I believe that the article says that you will link your Apple Music

This will be a permanent feature. Now the specific details are
still not clear. I am not sure if it will just be a subscription
service like Spotify, or you will also be able to play your own
personal music and the free stations offered by Apple Music. Now
I would assume that if you are already an Apple Music subscriber,
then you should be fine and be able to access it without a
problem.

I just received this email concerning Apple Music on the Amazon
Alexa device. I am wondering if this is going to be permanent, or
just for a short period. I am an able subscriber, and have an
apple account as I am an iPhone 7 Plus user. Also, is this a free
feature, or is there a monthly subscription fee.
Thanks folks!

Apple Music comes to Amazon Echo smart speakers starting December
17th Friday, November 30, 2018 Highlighting growing cooperation
between the two companies, Amazon has announced that Apple Music
is coming to Amazon Echo smart speakers starting December 17th
Music has always been one of Alexa’s most popular features and
today we’re excited to announce that Apple Music will be
available on Echo devices beginning the week of December 17.
Apple Music subscribers will be able to enjoy Apple Music’s 50
million songs on Echo devices. Customers will be able to ask
Alexa to play their favorite songs, artists, and albums—or any of
the playlists made by Apple Music’s editors from around the
world, covering many activities and moods. Customers will also be
able to ask Alexa to stream expert-made radio stations centered
on popular genres like Hip-Hop, decades like the 80s, and even
music from around the world, like K-Pop. Just ask Alexa to play
Beats 1 to hear Apple Music’s global livestream including
in-depth artist interviews— all completely ad-free. Simply enable
the Apple Music skill in the Alexa app and link your account to
start listening.
“Music is one of the most popular features on Alexa—since we
launched Alexa four years ago, customers are listening to more
music in their homes than ever before,” said Dave Limp, senior
vice president, Amazon Devices. “We are committed to offering
great music providers to our customers and since launching the
Music Skill API to developers just last month, we’ve expanded the
music selection on Alexa to include even more top tier services.
We’re thrilled to bring Apple Music – one of the most popular
music services in the US – to Echo customers this holiday.”
Customers tell us that the simplicity and ease of asking Alexa
for the content they want to hear has brought more music into
their homes.
Customers ask Alexa to play all kinds of music in many different
languages. They stream tens of millions of hours of radio per
month and have set tens of millions of music alarms since the
feature launched less than a year ago.
Fun fact: Top country is the most requested music to wake up to.
We’re excited to bring Apple Music to our Alexa customers this
holiday season.

Hi,
I wrote to Sonos Support and asked if Apple Music will have the same voice
support that Spotify now enjoys on Sonos. Because someone on my echoing
group speculated that because Alexa is a third party app on Sonos it may not
be available with voice control with Sonos as it will be with Amazon
devices. I received a very unsatisfactory reply back which basically implied
that I would have to wait until the seventeenth to find out one way or the
other unless Apple decided to disclose it first.
I use both Spotify and Apple Music on my Sonos currently because I like
Spotify better than Amazon Music Unlimited on the Sonos in both quality of
sound and selection of music on the Sonos One and they both allow me to
control my music via my voice. My hope is that very soon Apple will also
allow this on both Sonos and Amazon devices as well.

Though listed as a skill to set up on the Kindle fire, Skype with Alexa doesn’t work on it. Furthermore, at least for now, you are actually subscribing to a Skype 100 minute around the world plan, would you find out about after getting the email notification. After a chat on Skype with one of their reps, I learned that I would have to upgrade in order to be charged anything, so, for me that was a good thing.

Hi,
I wrote to Sonos Support and asked if Apple Music will have the same voice support that Spotify now enjoys on Sonos.

I have tried both Apple Music as well as the unlimited Amazon Music

It says you get 2 month of free Skype calls to mobiles and landlines in 34 countries. It doesn't say anything that you have to keep that subscription afterwards and I think you can still make calls to other people who have Skype. This is no different than if you use Skype on the iPhone or your computer. I am pretty sure it works off whatever you have for your Skype account already. Here is an article from Skype:

Skype hands-free calling now available on Alexa smart devices<https://www.skype.com/en/alexa/>

Apart from what I just sad, I forgot to answer the initial question: you open the Alexa app on your device, go to skills, search for Skype, and enable it. Like I said though, it says nothing about that you are subscribing to a plan.

Hi,
I wrote to Sonos Support and asked if Apple Music will have the same voice support that Spotify now enjoys on Sonos.

I have tried both Apple Music as well as the unlimited Amazon Music

Amazon Music because it seems that a few of the artist that I like to
listen to was not available on Apple Music, but was available on

I believe that the article says that you will link your Apple Music
account with your Alexa service.
Those with Sonos and Alexa have Apple Music linked with Sonos.

This will be a permanent feature. Now the specific details are
still not clear. I am not sure if it will just be a subscription
service like Spotify, or you will also be able to play your own
personal music and the free stations offered by Apple Music. Now
I would assume that if you are already an Apple Music subscriber,
then you should be fine and be able to access it without a
problem.

Customers tell us that the simplicity and ease of asking Alexa for
the
content they want to hear has brought more music into their homes.
Customers ask Alexa to play all kinds of music in many different
languages. They stream tens of millions of hours of radio per month
and
have set tens of millions of music alarms since the feature launched
less
than a year ago.
Fun fact: Top country is the most requested music to wake up to.
We’re excited to bring Apple Music to our Alexa customers this

Seems like you would each add your separate apple music subscriptions to your separate Amazon accounts and go as normal from there as two accounts can exist on one Echo device and switching between them is easy peasy.

Can you explain more as to how you can have two accounts on an Echo and how to switch? I'd love to know, but it may also be that this is simply not possible yet with Amazon Canada, we also don't have the option yet to set up a Family group.

Seems like you would each add your separate apple music subscriptions to your separate Amazon accounts and go as normal from there as two accounts can exist on one Echo device and switching between them is easy peasy.

Regards,
Sieghard

that made up my mind I am going get me another dot the third gen this time. Soled the second gen because I wanted to try something else.
I use Apple Music.
Maria Reyes
I believe that the article says that you will link your Apple Music
account with your Alexa service.

Now
I would assume that if you are already an Apple Music subscriber,
then you should be fine and be able to access it without a
