Discussion:
Blue Tooth Tooth Brushes?

Yesterday, I went to the Amazon web site to look for a spare travel electric
tooth brush. What, to my surprise was a butt load of blue tooth models.

Question: Have any of you purchased one of these? What does it do that the
older ones don't?

Thanks in advance.

I have a bluetooth toothbrush from Oral B. I don't really use the
bluetooth option, but if I remember correctly, you can use it to change
the settings of your toothbrush as well as get a report on how you're
brushing, such as if you need to give some teeth or area of your moth
some extra attention.

Hi,

I, too, have one of the Oral B brushes and really wanted to take advantage of the brush reporting fecilities. Unfortunately the app is virtually inaccessible.

The brush has a physical button which allows you to, by default, cycle through about six brushing modes – basically by adjusting the speed of the motor and the amount of time the motor runs before it warns you to move to the next part of the mouth. I did manage to use the app to narrow this down to three options, but even that was a pig's ear and I don't relish ever having to do it again.

Apps can change and I love having the best that money could buy. I'd probably buy the brush again just because it's such a good brush in all respects apart from the Bluetooth, and hopefully Oral B will sort out their accessibility down the line. But I would probably recommend a simpler brush from Oral B in most cases.

Well, I suppose if we want better accessibility of the app we should inform Oral B of the problems with it.

I don’t see a pressing need for this device, and I can’t resist a little humor about it. First of all, Bluetooth is one word, not two, as I originally thought it was. I suppose someone could end up with a blue tooth by eating blueberry muffins or pancakes, or just blueberries. Then your toothbrush could brush that blue tooth. This would all be after we had found our thrill on Blueberry Hill.

Sorry, I couldn’t resist. We all need a little good humor now and then. Seriously Bluetooth devices are handy. What we do without our Bluetooth headphones, keyboards, Braille displays and other such items.

Hope all in the U. S. had a happy Thanksgiving Day.

Hi Donald,

Don't even bother, it's like some company which came out with a smart hair brush which cost $200 or something. I like my gadgets as much as the next person, but at times it's just too much.
One thing I would look for is that your tooth brush is a sonic brush, those apparently really do a better job.
My wife and I just bought a Water Pik station which includes a very nice water flossing machine as well as it comes with their sonic tooth brush and several brush heads and we now each have a brush head in our cups and use the same base.
I previously had a Philips Sonic Care which was also quite good, but they can be ridiculously expensive and I really don't agree when 2 replacement brushes cost $39 Canadian, I mean we are talking about 2 or 3 inches of plastic with a brush at the end. I bet they make money no end on these, most people probably won't check first what replacement brushes cost, they buy the expensive tooth brush and then get a big surprise when they need a replacement brush. Of course at that point they spend $200 on the tooth brush so they bite the bullet and buy the expensive replacement.
This Water Pik combo station we bought is their best and most expensive one and it was I think $119 US, I ended up ordering it from Amazon.com because they didn't list it here yet.

Sieghard,
Which water pick station was that? I have been looking and so that is why
my curiosity. By the way, I agree with you about the Bluetooth gadgets.
Sometimes you just have to wonder. We have a lot of neat techie things, but
a tooth brush or a hair brush is out there somewhere.

Subject: Blue Tooth Tooth Brushes?

Yesterday, I went to the Amazon web site to look for a spare travel electric tooth brush. What, to my surprise was a butt load of blue tooth models.

Question: Have any of you purchased one of these? What does it do that the older ones don't?

Thanks in advance.
