Hi all,

I'm still not getting to grips too well with my watch. For one thing,
I'm getting no feedback with the digital crown when turning it away (up)
from my hand. Also, I want to change some of my settings but I just
can't find "Settings" to do this.

Any help will be welcome, thanks.

E-mail me privately if you wish with your questions and I will try to help.

Turning the Digital Croun away from me announces the time.

Hi,

Some settings are available on the watch, but most of them are in the Watch app on your phone. I would also suggest checking out the Apple Watch user guide, which you can download for free from the iBooks store.

Best,
Anna

Hi Carol

i'm also struggling. Try pressing the button next to the digital crown
then as far as i can see, from there you can swipe to setting. I have
downloaded the online manual but even that's not particually easy to
navigate. Please keep all your watch questions on list as i'm sure we
can't be the only ones who are struggling.

Thanks

Hi,

One thing that can help you find the apps you want is to make sure they're in list view rather than grid view. In list view, they're in alphabetical order, and you can use the digital crown to scroll through them. To get them in list view, do the following:

1. Wake your watch.

2. Press the digital crown to go to the screen containing your apps.

3. Force press. To do this press, the screen until you feel a vibration. Force pressing is often a way to get to additional options in an app.

4. There are two buttons on the screen - Grid View and List View. Double-tap List View.

Settings is one of the apps. You can also ask Siri to open apps, or choose recent or favorite apps from the dock, depending on how you configure the dock. You get to the dock by pressing the side button, the one next to the digital crown.

Again, though, most of the settings are available in the Watch app on your phone.

I hope that helps.

Best,
Anna

Hello,

Auto Speak determines whether the content of a complication is automatically read when you wake up your Apple Watch.

Normally on waking up your watch the time is announced. If you enable Auto Speak for a particular complication its content will be read after the time is announced.

For example, I have the Activity complication on my watch face. If I enable auto speak for this complication then I will get the time then Moving 92%, Exercising 100% Standing 83%.

Hello,

Watches had complications long before Apple existed.

On old analogue watches some were able to display more than just the time. These extra items were known as complications. Perhaps because the more features on the watch the more complex its workings were, hence the term complication.

Actually, I read a book about a famous timepiece titled a grand complication. It’s a very old word for when you have more than the time on your watch. I hadn’t known the word until I read that book, lol.

Ann,

I have the same problem. When I am working, I want to find out the time, and sometimes it will just not vibrate. Other times, it works perfectly. I have read that others seem to have the same problem. If anyone has the solution, I would love to know what it is.

Best,
Anna

Hi Carol
i'm also struggling. Try pressing the button next to the digital crown then as far as i can see, from there you can swipe to setting. I have downloaded the online manual but even that's not particually easy to navigate. Please keep all your watch questions on list as i'm sure we can't be the only ones who are struggling.
Thanks
Linda

Hi all,
I'm still not getting to grips too well with my watch. For one thing, I'm getting no feedback with the digital crown when turning it away (up) from my hand. Also, I want to change some of my settings but I just can't find "Settings" to do this.
Any help will be welcome, thanks.

I will. I just need a good, easy to follow, book or tutorial of some
kind but haven't so far been able to download Anna's book and have had
no tuition. Does anyone know what other functions where it's useful or
really necessary anyway to use the side button, please?
