Discussion:
Air pods and multi point?

Hello everyone,
I have no success using my air pods with my iPhone 8 and my Apple Watch series 4.
Sometimes it works perfectly. I touch the watch and the air pods connect to the watch, or I touch the iPhone and it connects to the phone. This is about 10% of the time.
Most of the time they connect to the iPhone, ok, but connection to the watch is hit or miss.

Is anyone having success with multi point between an iPhone and and Apple Watch,
If so, how do you do it?

Thanks,

Chuck (mobile)

One reason why I have not yet shelled out the very high price for the Airpods.
They get very good reviews, I love how they fit and sound, but my Voyager Edge works seamlessly between my iPhone and Apple Watch and it amazes me that Apple can't do at least as good if not better with their own product.

Have you reported this to Apple, I'd be curious how they justify such poor performance of such an expensive headset which when it was first released they made out to be equivalent to the second coming.

The problem that I have, and judging by this list I know I”m in the minority, is that I really really do not want my watch to connect to my AirPods. Ever. I don’t listen to music on it, and I never want to hear voiceover in my ears from it. So the behavior as it stands now really works for me. But I can understand why others would find it annoying.

The phone connects to the AirPods with Bluetooth however; the watch connects to the AirPods with airplay.
So what you need to do and you want to just listen to voice over from your iPhone through the AirPods is to go in to the control center of your Apple Watch and disconnect from the air pots hope this helps

Once you have paired your AirPods with iPhone, they get connected with Apple Watch automatically provided it’s synced with the same Apple ID and running watchOS. Switching AirPods with Apple Watch is as simple as it can ever get. Just play music on your wearable device and you are done. However, you also have the option to switch manually.

Step #1. First off, you need to swipe up from the bottom to access Control Center and then tap on AirPlay button.

Step #2. Now, tap on AirPods.

It *is* easy to switch, but not nearly as seamless as devices like the
Voyager Legend. It’s purely a matter of what you’re used to. I used to
use a Voyager Legend and it switched flawlessly between phone and iPad.
I’m one of those who doesn’t want the bluetooth device to autoconnect to
the watch, ever, so I removed it from the bluetooth devices on the watch to
keep the watch from hijacking the connection. I think the point to the
conversation is that Apple’s implementation of multipoint is a bit lacking.
