Hello everyone,

Does anyone know anything regarding the freestyle libre for diabetes? How will it work with an iPhone? You are using an app if there is one? Or you thinking something like seeing AI?

If anyone can tell me anything, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you,

Terri

Hi,

there is a librelink app for the freestyle Libre you would need to check if
it's released in your country. If it is the librelink app can be used to
start and read the sensor. I'm currently using mine with Android and I'm
due to start a new sensor in about 5 days, so I can test the iPhone
accessibility if you can wait till then.
Cheers,
Brett.

Hello,
Right now the apps for either platform are not in the US right now. I am using the Libre now however. I use the Envision AI app on my phone to read the screen of the Libre meter. It works quite well. Seeing AI does work but not quite as well as Envision. The envision app does cost. It is $4.99 a month, $24.99 for six months or $40 a year. There is also a one time purchase of $199 for a lifetime subscription to the app.

Hello,

I too am waiting for the release of the Freestyle LibreLink app in the US App Store. I currently am using the TapTapSee application to capture a image of the screen and read the bg reading to me. This works well enough for now but it will be nice to have the app on the phone with the Voice Alerts active. This feature is used to read the current scanned blood sugar. It will also announce the direction such as slowly falling, raising slowly, etc. From what I have read on some of the Diabetes forums the app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and it is pretty simple to use. Here’s to hoping!

I understand that here in Canada the app is available and the reader is accessible using Iphone 7 and greater. The app uses NRC technology to read the sensor data using voice over to verbalize it for us.

I will be trying the sensor as soon as I upgrade my phone, probably this fall.

Hello everyone,

Well I do not have this unit yeah, I looked at the link that was given for the US version of the app. It states that this app uses specific features, this device does not offer. I’m not sure what in the world that means? I am using an iPhone S-6, would the latest update.
Does anyone have any idea what that could mean?

Thank you,

Terri

Yes, the app needs access to NFC which requires an iPhone 7 or newer. It is
only from the iPhone 7 that apple let some third-party apps to use NFC. On
earlier iPhones can only use NFC for Apple pay.

Cheers,

It most likely means to tell you that your iPhone 6S which I assume you mean when you say iPhone S-6 is not compatible with the Libre sensor.
It says clearly in the app description that you need at least an iPhone 7 or higher because it uses NFC (nearfield communication) technology to scan the sensor.
The iPhone 6S has an NFC chip, but it is very limited and can only be used for Apple Pay in that phone. A year later, in the iPhone 7, Apple opened up the NFC chip more to be used also for other tasks such as this one.

Sieghard

Hello everyone,
Well I do not have this unit yeah, I looked at the link that was given for the US version of the app. It states that this
app uses specific features, this device does not offer. I?m not sure what in the world that means? I am using an iPhone S-6,
would the latest update.
Does anyone have any idea what that could mean?
Thank you,
Terri

Hello, I just finished up setting the app up. I am so glad the link was given for the US store. It was a breeze to set up
with my iPhone. The app works great. I will be using my phone from now on to scan my sensor.

I understand that here in Canada the app is available and the reader is accessible using Iphone 7 and greater.  The
app uses NRC technology to read the sensor data using voice over to verbalize it for us.
I will be trying the sensor as soon as I upgrade my phone, probably this fall.

Hello,

I too am waiting for the release of the Freestyle LibreLink app in the US App Store. I currently am using the
TapTapSee application to capture a image of the screen and read the bg reading to me. This works well enough for now
but it will be nice to have the app on the phone with the Voice Alerts active. This feature is used to read the
current scanned blood sugar. It will also announce the direction such as slowly falling, raising slowly, etc. From
what I have read on some of the Diabetes forums the app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and it is pretty simple to
use. Here?s to hoping!

Hello,
Right now the apps for either platform are not in the US right now. I am using the Libre now however. I use the
Envision AI app on my phone to read the screen of the Libre meter. It works quite well. Seeing AI does work but
not quite as well as Envision. The envision app does cost. It is $4.99 a month, $24.99 for six months or $40 a
year. There is also a one time purchase of $199 for a lifetime subscription to the app.

Hi,
there is a librelink app for the freestyle Libre you would need to check if it's released in your country.
If it is the librelink app can be used to start and read the sensor. I'm currently using mine with Android
and I'm due to start a new sensor in about 5 days, so I can test the iPhone accessibility if you can wait
till then.
Cheers,
Brett.
 Hello everyone,

Does anyone know anything regarding the freestyle libre for diabetes? How will it work with an
iPhone? You are using an app if there is one? Or you thinking something like seeing AI?

If anyone can tell me anything, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you,

Terri

Yes, it comes as part of a kit which also includes one or two 14 day Sensors.

Not sure of the exact price, I believe somewhere around $200.

hi,
Presuming this gives you a blood sugar reading, does it also tell you about levels of ketones?
thanks, Sandy

Yes, it comes as part of a kit which also includes one or two 14 day Sensors.
Not sure of the exact price, I believe somewhere around $200.

Hi. I am guessing that you have to get the actual machine in order to use this app? Thanks.

Thank you,
Terri

Hello,
I just finished up setting the app up. I am so glad the link was given for the US store. It was a breeze to set up with my iPhone. The app works great. I will be using my phone from now on to scan my sensor.
Greg Wocher
I understand that here in Canada the app is available and the reader is accessible using Iphone 7 and greater. The app uses NRC technology to read the sensor data using voice over to verbalize it for us.
I will be trying the sensor as soon as I upgrade my phone, probably this fall.

Hello,
I too am waiting for the release of the Freestyle LibreLink app in the US App Store.
Ed Worrell
Hello,
Right now the apps for either platform are not in the US right now.
Greg Wocher
Hi,
there is a librelink app for the freestyle Libre you would need to check if it's released in your country. If it is the librelink app can be used to start and read the sensor. I'm currently using mine with Android and I'm due to start a new sensor in about 5 days, so I can test the iPhone accessibility if you can wait till then.
Cheers,
Brett.
Hello everyone,
Does anyone know anything regarding the freestyle libre for diabetes? How will it work with an iPhone? You are using an app if there is one? Or you thinking something like seeing AI?
If anyone can tell me anything, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you,
Terri

Hello,
No it does not do ketone. The freestyle libra has a sensor you place on the back of your arm. It has a small needle and very strong adhesive. Once the sensor is applied and adjusts to your body, you can then use either the meter that comes with the libra or your phone to scan the sensor. It uses NFC. Yes the iPhone app is accessible.
