If you Know you have to press many options you can use coma between each.

How do you get a comma to come up, when you are entering numbers from a key pad, and can't you just edit a number you already have?

Best regards,

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn and others,

If you are setting up a contact with an extension that you always have to enter, enter the phone number first, then check in the lower left of the screen and you should find a shift key. Activate that and then some of the numbers change to punctuation. I believe it is the 4 that is now a comma. The comma puts in a slight delay when dialing the number. You may have to experiment some to get the timing right.
I have to call into telephone conference calls sometimes at work, so I enter the number, then two or three commas, then the participant code, then the number sign.
The shift key on the phone keypad only works for the next press, so you may have to hit shift again and add a comma if the timing doesn't work with just one.

Normally, though if you are calling somewhere that you have to pick an option and need to do that live, for me, if I call the number using Siri or from a contact, while VoiceOver is on, the keypad is on the screen and I can slide my finger around to find the number I need.
If it isn't showing up, and you need to do this live, you'll have to open the phone app and select keypad.

HTH,
Richard

I use a headset. For some reason, I can do the key pad better. Somehow, it doesn't seem to work at all for me otherwise. Still, I think I need to get faster at it.

Best regards,

Carolyn

Hi Linda,

Theoretically, when you make a call, you should have a numeric keypad on the screen. With that in mind, just take the phone away from your ear to activate speaker phone mode and use Voiceover as usual on the screen to find the correct number and type it. The keypad will act like a keyboard for this purpose and should emit touch tones on successful entry of a number.

Matthew
